Just Me Against The World

OK. Technically my eye isn’t black. In this picture, you can barely even tell.  So keep that in mind before saying “oh, your eye isn’t even black.” It was more of a light purple and a tad swollen from playing D on that white dude at the gym and ending up getting accidentally head butted. Sucks that it was the same eye that hasnt stopped twitching for the past month and a half. Sucks even more that it’s still twitching. Now that we have that cleared up, the next step was to try and get rid of it. (more…)

There are only a couple of things that come in the mail that are actually good: 1) coupons and 2) checks (not in that order). Everything else seems to be a waste of time and/or paper. Let’s see, bills, spam mail, fliers, and scams. Great stuff to come home to at the end of the day. The thing that I find weird is how my United States Postal Service worker just crams everything into my mailbox. I understand that he or she is busy and probably sick of their job, but it looks like my mailbox is a trashcan. When I open it up, everything just falls out. I really get annoyed when I’m carrying something in from the car and have to try to catch all the mail before it falls or pick it up after it does. It’s pretty ridiculous. What can I do about it? Nothing except bitch, moan, and accept it. I end up throwing away 80% of all this crap anyway. Like I said, waste of paper.

A few of us just signed up for the ABA (Asian Basketball Association) under the team name of 3rd String (other option was Bangcok Blockers). The thing is, we play next Sunday and we still haven’t gotten the entire team together for a practice session. So far our roster stands at 10: Mickee Zenarosa, Dennis Trilles, Roel Concepcion, Ross Colcol, Elliott Moran, Steve Chan, Tony Dever (who hasn’t made it to any practice yet so I have no idea who he is), Eddie Lee, Chris Serafino, and myself. We might pick up a couple more guys like Mike Morgan and whoever else. For jerseys, I had trouble deciding on a number. I figure most people would want 23 and the Lakers lovers 24. Maybe even 8 since it is an Asian league. My options were 1 or 3. I figure my birthday is on 11-01 so that’s all 1s. If someone else wanted 1, I’d go 3 since 1+1+1 = 3. I was meeting Will, Janel, Kaylee, and Kyle Law for dinner at the Puente Hills Mall and had some time to kill so I went inside to look at basketball shoes (I know, I really shouldn’t be). But on the way in I saw this lady getting arrested for who knows what. I’m guessing shoplifting, but she was sitting on the floor handcuffed with a bunch of cops around here. I was caught stealing one time as a kid, but that was for back pain medicine. Lame, huh? Shoot. I don’t even know if this chick is a mom, but it’s sad and funny at the same time. This is my first time using the WordPress iPhone app so let’s see how it turns out.

It seems like everyone around me is doing something good whether it’s my white parents, Noel and Julie Cruz for their church, or my real parents, Paul and Julie. Even my sister Jean does volunteer work at the Signal Hill Police Station (booooo!) and at the Long Beach Rescue Mission (yay!). So to sum it up, everyone is kicking in except for me. Hell, I don’t even like giving homeless people money when they hit me up at the gas station. Moochers. So a few days ago there was a big flood in my homeland of Taiwan caused by Typhoon Morakot (nobody could come up with a better name I guess). I admit that I haven’t been watching the news lately. Well, I rarely watch it at all in the first place, but I’ve been getting home pretty late the past week so I really haven’t been paying attention. (more…)

Yeah, another on of my friends had a baby (and didn’t name him after me). I’m actually not entirely sure why I keep writing blogs about my friends’ kids since my mom will flip out when she reads about them and start hounding me about getting married and giving her some grandchildren of her own. Admittedly, I do not know a lot about babies ore the pregnancy process (other than the act of conceiving). So very rarely will you ever hear me make stupid comments like “oh. looks like she’s ready to pop” or any variation of that because I really don’t know what differentiatesa pregant person being ready to pop and not. Plus doesn’t “popping” a baby out just sound a bit weird?

Sigh. Where to begin? The past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to handle all of the paperwork to get Medium Monster up, running, and legit. I used our Filipino tax guy to register the name, Employer Identification Number, and all that fun stuff, but I keep getting letters in the mail from different companies - all of which say Remit Payment Immediately to avoid $250 penalty and suspension of our company. I was worried that some of these were going to be scams since all anybody seems to do nowadays is to rip people off, but the notices seemed pretty legit and professional. The first one from Business Filings Division for Statement of Information even had a California stamp at the top. Not that a California stamp means anything, but matched with the warning I got suckered in. In fact, here is it word for word: Failure to comply with the Necessary Filing will cause the Entity to be assessed Penalties, Fines and SUSPENSION. Should the Entity become SUSPENDED, you will not have the right to conduct business, your Entity name could be taken, losing your Corporate Existence will have many negative ramifications. (more…)

Not to be all up on Mitsubishi’s jock, but since they’re one of Medium Monster’s first clients we have to show them a little extra love. In case you missed the small segment in the Jim Russell Lancer Evolution Experience video that we produced where Mike Evanoff went through the 2010 Lancer Evolution X MR with a touring package, here’s a quick rundown of what it entails. The most important thing to remember is that it only comes in the MR so no love on the GSR 5-speed version. Think of it as a sophisticated Evolution X.

I don’t know how long I’ve known Debbie Nichols for. I’m guessing around junior high days at Tuffree, but I didn’t really start kicking it with her until we were in high school at El Dorado. So that’s roughly 19 or so years (the same amount of time we’ve been abused season ticket holders for the Los Angeles Clippers).  A few months ago she told me that she was finally getting married on August 1, which was dope except for the fact that at the time I was always working on weekends. In fact, Will “Cheesecake” Roegge and I were supposed to be at X-Games shooting some stuff, but that got called off last minute. (more…)
