It’s very rare that the Clippers have a lot of cap space to spend on a big free agent at the right time. Last time I remember was when Kobe Bryant opted out of his contract with the Lakers only to stroke his own ego then bone us like he did to that white chick in Denver (allegedly). Well, this summer is much different. There are more superstars in the NBA than just Kobe and they all happen to be opting out of their contracts to become unrestricted free agents. The main ones emerged from the same draft class as the big goofball Chris Kaman. The biggest being, of course, King LeBron James.
People have been talking about July 1, 2010 since July 1, 2008 because it’s such an important date for all these superstar free agents. Where will LeBron, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade end up? Even throughout the season, that’s all everyone would talk about. Then in the playoffs, it was that and LeBron’s elbow. There were a few different takes on how the Cavaliers did in the post season. Some said that if he won a championship there, he wouldn’t leave because he wanted to make it a dynasty. Others thought that if he won, he could leave feeling accomplished in his home State. Either way, we won’t find out this year because the Cavs got beat down pretty bad by the Celtics. Now it’s back to guessing what King James is going to do. The Knicks have spent the past two years gutting their roster and playing atrocious basketball just so they could have the cap space to sign LeBron and possibly another big time player like Bosh. The Heat are pretty bad and only have Wade, but they could re-sign him and still have some cash leftover to get him some help. The Bulls have money, Derrick Rose, Noah, and Barrack Obama’s “blessing” for LeBron to sign there. The Clippers have a ton of cap space (one good thing that DunDun left us with), Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Blake Griffin, Chris Kaman, and DeAndre Jordan. All they need is a small forward, which has been the problem for the past couple of years. LeBron is a perfect fit, but will he come? Maybe with a little convincing.
Clipper Darrell, Jesse Beer, and a few other die hard Clippers fans are organizing a parade to show LeBron how much we need him in a Clippers uniform. It’s going to be at LA Live across from Staple Center this Thursday May 27, 2010 between 3pm-5pm. Shirts can be purchased for the low cost of $6. I head a couple dumbass announcers on the radio making fun of Clippers fans for doing this, but what about the Cleveland fans re-writing the song “We Are the World” to keep Bron Bron over there? Or the murals they painted on buildings trying to get him to stay? Oh, and the mayor of New York talking about how much he wants LeBron to sign with the Knicks? Come on now, we’re Clippers fans. You think we haven’t been made fun of before? We’re just supporting our team to the best of our capabilities. Will it work? Who knows? All you so-called analysts had the Cavs winning the championship and we all saw how that went. Shows what you guys are experts on. Nothing. Might as well be weather forecasters. Both useless as useless can be. Then every sports writer for their home teams (of course) talk about how LeBron won’t come to the Clippers because 1) they’re the Clippers (how original. My drunk Tweets are more interesting than that) or 2) the Clippers curse (no such thing as a curse. Sorry! If there was, then maybe you should ask the Trailblazers about it). There’s no curse, just a bunch of negative ass haters. Oh, and I can’t forget fans of other teams who say LeBron will NEVER EVER be a Clipper. Probably right, but what do you care anyway? It’s not like it’s your team. I swear, it’s as if everyone just wants the Clippers to do bad so they have a team to make fun of.
Maybe it is a dream to have LeBron come to the Clips, but with all the misery we’ve gone through as fans, is it too much to dream? So shut up and let us dream.
